PBIF: Ambassador Cuisia Calls to Invest in the Filipino People

NEW YORK – The US-Philippines Society co-sponsored a March 3 Philippine Investment Forum at the Sheraton New York Times Square. The forum highlighted the Aquino administration’s achievements in good governance, competitiveness, inclusive growth, and reassured investors of policy continuity and growth prospects in key sectors, including infrastructure, IT-business process management, agriculture, manufacturing, mining and tourism.

In his welcome remarks, Philippine Ambassador Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. highlighted the Philippine success story of good governance, competitiveness, and inclusive economic growth. He noted that in order to ensure the sustainability of its good governance dividends, the Philippine Government remained focused on a menu of crucial policy areas:

“In the course of the last few years, the Philippines enhanced its market position and consumer-protection mechanisms by pursuing a dynamic and growth-oriented legislative agenda. Important laws were enacted in order to increase the Philippines’ attractiveness for investment by ensuring a level playing field for domestic and international business, but also by institutionalizing the foundations of good governance, fair competition and business transparency,” said Ambassador Cuisia.
