“In Excelsis: The Mission of Jose P. Rizal – Humanist and Philippine National Hero”

In addition to writing two books about Philippine national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, Sta. Maria aided the updating of three prominent Rizal historical sites during the Centennial of Rizal’s Martyrdom in 1996 and the declaration of the Rizal Monument at Luneta as a Philippine National Treasure on its centenary in 2013. She pioneers Philippine food history and researches on the Spanish and American colonial eras. Sta. Maria is multi-awarded for her writing and service to cultural agencies and museums, public and private, as a commissioner, a board member, and an adviser for well over four decades.
