The Washington community experienced Filipino Christmas with traditional lanterns, called parols, and native delicacies to mark the start of the dawn masses nine days before Christmas.

At a reception sponsored by the US-Philippines Society, members and guests enjoyed Filipino food including rice cakes traditionally served after the dawn mass.

Lanterns displayed were made in San Fernando, Pampanga known as the “Christmas capital of the Philippines”.
