Join us for a presentation and discussion of key takeaways from the recent APEC meetings hosted by the United States in San Francisco, along with insights into the APEC 2023 process, with APEC Ambassador Matthew D. Murray. This one-hour program hosted by the US-Philippines Society in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines will include an update on areas of bilateral engagement between the U.S. and the Philippines, and a look ahead at 2024 priorities.

Ambassador Matt Murray coordinates the United States’ active engagement and participation in APEC while also overseeing the Office of Economic Policy in the State Department’s Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs. During the U.S. APEC host year in 2023, Ambassador Murray spearheaded the advancement of U.S. APEC’s work across a wide range of policy domains and an economic policy agenda that benefits workers, businesses, and families in the United States and across the APEC region. Throughout his career at the State Department, Ambassador Murray has focused on fostering U.S. economic engagement with the Indo-Pacific region, including serving as Minister Counselor for Economic Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, Counselor for Economic Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Canberra, and Special Assistant in the Office of the Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy and Environment, as well as earlier diplomatic postings in Shanghai, Beijing, Dar es Salaam, and New Delhi.
