Architecture, Green Buildings and Sustainability in the Philippines

On Wednesday, May 9th, SOM Architectural Associate Director Nicolas Medrano and Project Manager Associate Vram Malek spoke about high performance design at Explore Islands Philippines. Their panel, ”Architecture, Green Buildings and Sustainability in the Philippines,” was moderated by Hank Hendrickson, Executive Director of the U.S.-Philippines Society.

Explore Islands Philippines was a four-day tourism and investment expo held at Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall in Manhattan. The event showcased Filipino culture, products, and industries. Panel and presentation topics ranged from air travel and science to dance, cuisine, architecture, and sustainability.

SOM has designed several award-winning high performance tall buildings in the Philippines, including Nex Tower, The Curve Tower, and the Zuellig Building in Manila, and the ArthaLand Century Pacific Tower in Bonifacio Global City. The ArthaLand Century Pacific Tower recently won two PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards: Best Office Architectural Design for all of Asia, and Best Green Development in the Philippines.
