US-Philippines Society Launch and Sen. Lugar Awarding

With the opening of its offices in Washington, D.C. on May 1, 2012, the US-Philippines Society realized the vision of its founders to create a new and timely mechanism for elevating the Philippines’ profile in the United States. The Society’s mission is to build on the rich and longstanding historical ties between the two nations and help to bring that unique relationship fully into the 21st century at a junction when U.S. policy interests are increasingly focused on East Asia.

As a 501c3 non-profit, non-partisan, and independent organization, the Society receives no funding or direction from either U.S. or Philippine government institutions and relies on the generosity of donors and active member support to develop and carry out programs that highlight today’s Philippines and contribute to Philippines-US relations.

While corporate support will remain key to future success, the Society seeks to build a broad membership base, in part by targeting the growing community of four million Filipino-Americans, many of whom are building successful professional careers.
